Jesus is my shepherd.
He cares for all my needs.
He pulls me out of danger,
And I follow where he leads.
When I turn aside,
He corrects me with His staff.
He calls, and I hear His voice.
He makes my heart glad.
The good shepheard laid down His life.
He protects His sheep from evil.
He'll bring his flock safely to the fold,
And will destroy the devil.
Jesus is my shepheard,
And I am His lamb.
I'm happy to be close to Him,
And to be led by His hand.

Worthy of Love
Do you know the feeling of fear that someone you want to be loved by will not love you if they knew who you really are? Are you afraid that someone will find out something only you know about yourself? There was another woman who felt this way. She'd been with many men, but she was still trying to be loved. She had had seven husbands, and was with a new man. She found herself face to face with Jesus. She tried to put herself forward as a good woman, but Jesus knew who she was. He did something amazing though. Instead of rejecting her, He told her that He knew who she was, and He still showed her love.
Perhaps when you find yourself looking at Jesus, you feel that you need to make yourself worthy before He will love you. Maybe you have tried to do all the right things and hope that God will love you because you have tried so hard. Perhaps you've spent your whole life in sin and know you are not worthy, and you have given up hope. Maybe people in your life have not accepted you and you think God cannot accept you either. If you have spent your whole life working hard to try to be loved, if you have tried to be worthy, there is something I want to tell you. You will never be worthy.
Friend, I have good news though. God has never loved a person worthy of His love. He choses to love the unworthy. God knows who you really are. He chose to love sinners knowing they were sinners. He made a way to salvation for all of us unworthy sinners through His Son's death in our place and resurrection. When Jesus died on the cross, He did it because He chose to love us not because anyone was worthy. It was not about who we are. It was about who He is. He is gracious and that is what He did because of who He is not because of who we are. The best thing to do when you realize you are unworthy is to run to Christ instead of trying to be worthy without Him. Our pride would have us try to be worthy so that we would have grounds to boast. However, you cannot come to Christ with something to offer. It is impossible. All we can come to Him with is repentance. When we embrace God's mercy as unworthy sinners and let go of our pride and attempts to be worthy on our own, we will be welcomed by God and loved. Then, obedience to Him is our joy and freedom. It becomes an expression of love for Him instead of a desperate attempt to be good enough.
Do you obey God to be worthy of His love, or do you obey God out of love because He's worthy? Have you humbly come to Christ as an unworthy sinner, and are you resting in the Savior's love, or are you desprately trying to earn love and have some type of ground for boasting? Perhaps your religious acts have been your attempt to be worthy. Perhaps you have never come to God as a sinner, but you have always tried to put your self forward as a good person like the woman at the well did. That is a weary task. Come to Jesus broken and sinful, and ask for mercy, and He will give you rest. God will not accept you just the way you are. He will accept you only on the account of His Son's death. Ask God to forgive you. He is willing and able to give you mercy because Christ died and rose again for our sins.
" And He also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and viewed others with contempt: “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.’ But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, ‘God, be [f]merciful to me, the sinner!’ I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.” Luke 18:9-14
This is a poem I wrote about being unworthy and loved.
-Unworthy Loved-
He knew who I would be
but still created me.
He knows all I have done,
Yet He sent His Son.
Knowing every part of me,
He chose to give mercy.
Come and see a man who told me everything I ever did.
Who knew every sin of mine and not a fault was hid.
I tried to make myself seem worthy.
He knew I wasn't but still loved me.
Come and live, you, who deserve to die.
Come and receive you who cannot buy.
Come and drink the waters of life.
Come unworthy and be loved by God.
Blessings,
Dallas

Hunger Me For You
May I hunger and thirst for righteousness (Mat 5:6)
And be satisfied with your likeness.(psalm 17:15)
May I feast on true bread and be filled with true drink. (John 6:55)
May my soul pant for You, as a deer pants for the brook. (Psalm 42:1)
May the doing of your will be my food (John 4:34)
And the nearness of you my good. (Psalm 73:28)
May I be filled with the fullness of your love.(Eph 3:19)
And live by every word proceeding from the mouth of God. (Luke 4:4)
O bread that came from heaven!
O manna divine!
Come fill my heart and renew my mind.
O pure and living water!
O precious cup of blood!
Refresh my soul, and cleanse me, my God!
You drank the dreaded cup of wrath,
that I might drink from the river of life! (Heb 9:22, Rev 22:1)
Your body was broken as bread for my sins,
that I might eat and be justified! (1 Cor 11:24)
I am unworthy to eat at your table,
but you wash my feet and sit by my side.
Yes, your table is filled with tax collectors and sinners.
'Twas for the unrighteousness you came to die.
You will clothe me in white to be your Bride! And I shall feast with my groom, the Lamb of God!
Slain for my sin,
Yet risen again.
O precious supper,
Thy body and blood.
And be satisfied with your likeness.(psalm 17:15)

Tiny Evidences
Tiny evidences dainty and white
Each unique in shape and size
A gallery of masterpieces
Covering the landscape with white fleeces
Gently drifting all around
A peaceful song without sound
Myriads melted in years gone by
Yet new creations still drift from the sky
Never once a duplicate
Every one detailed and intricate
Inescapable proofs dance before our eyes
The evidence of God that cannot be denied
As endless as the snowflakes designs
Is the greatness and power of God divine

Out of the Abundance of the Heart
The tongue
O, that little member
That steers the ship
Though a small rudder
The spark
That sets aflame a forest
Animals are tamed,
But who can tame this
The tree
Producing olives and figs
With our tongue
We bless God and curse men
The tool
For building up one another
That also can
Destroy our brothers
The flaw
Of all the human race
Is corrupted hearts
In need of God's grace.
The cure
Is being filled with the Spirit
For what's within
Is what will exit.
"The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart." Luke 6:45

God and the Holy Trinity
I wrote this poem with the intention of displaying God's character in an artful way. It is when we try to gaze into the face of God that we realize our true sinful state. And when we see our true sinfulness, it makes His grace all the more precious, glorious, and wonderful. God is so vast, He certainly cannot be described or contained in one poem. He could not be contained in all the books and libraries that exist either. In fact, He is infinite and cannot be contained in the cosmos! Yes, this is someone worth writing about, reading about, and living for!
The Lord is God. There is no other.
He's infinite in being and perfection.
He is not dependant on another.
His essence is beyond all comprehension.
He alone has immortality.
He is a most pure spirit invisible.
Immutable and most holy
He works all things according to his counsel.
A God most wise, infinite, and free
Who's dwelling is in light unapproachable
Who's full of splendor and of glory
Unending, without beginning, eternal
A patient God who's longsuffering
One who forgives and pardons iniquity
Who's merciful, good, and loving,
The Lord is God. There is no other.
He's infinite in being and perfection.
He is not dependant on another.
His essence is beyond all comprehension.
He alone has immortality.
He is a most pure spirit invisible.
Immutable and most holy
He works all things according to his counsel.
A God most wise, infinite, and free
Who's dwelling is in light unapproachable
Who's full of splendor and of glory
Unending, without beginning, eternal
A patient God who's longsuffering
One who forgives and pardons iniquity
Who's merciful, good, and loving,
Yet just and will by no means clear the guilty.
A God who alone is all-knowing
There's nothing that is hidden from His sight.
The Lord is powerful, almighty.
He's immeasurable in strength and matchless in might.
The Lord is completely sovereign,
Most holy in all His works, counsels, and plans.
He has dominion over all creation.
He deserves our worship and obedience to His commands.
In this one God are three persons,
All one in power, attributes, and eternity.
There are three persons but no divisions.
Each with different roles but equal in divinity.
(I used the "1689 Baptist Confession of Faith" edited by Peter Masters as a guide for this poem. I do not, however, affirm the impassibility of God. Thus, I did not include this doctrine in my poem. I have not found this doctrine to be biblical. Wayne Grudem's "Systematic Theology" is very helpful on this subject. He explains were this doctrine came from and why it is not Biblical.)

The Word of God
I wrote this poem with the intentions of encapsulating all the main points that the first article of the "1689 Baptist Confession of Faith" makes. I wanted to exhibit the rich doctrine in the article in a beautiful and poetic way. I hope this blesses you!
The word of God is complete.
No other book can compete.
The Holy Scriptures do suffice
For salvation, doctrine, and daily life.
God's existence is proved by nature,
But nature is quite a limited teacher.
God's plan of salvation and will for man,
Aren't understood by the works of His hand.
Before He spoke in many ways,
But scripture is His method today.
Sixty six books do compose
The word of God is complete.
No other book can compete.
The Holy Scriptures do suffice
For salvation, doctrine, and daily life.
God's existence is proved by nature,
But nature is quite a limited teacher.
God's plan of salvation and will for man,
Aren't understood by the works of His hand.
Before He spoke in many ways,
But scripture is His method today.
Sixty six books do compose
The entire cannon that is now closed.
Scripture needs not explanation,
Nor man's approval or recommendation.
God's Word makes the simple prudent.
Every believer should be it's student.
It doesn't matter what churches say.
It's God's word we're bound to obey.
If any man's teachings contradict,
We must follow scripture, holding fast to it.
The Bible is God breathed.
It's contents to pure to be man conceived.
Nature is in one accord
With the testimony of God's word.
The proofs without and proofs within,
Can't convince minds darkened by sin.
Unless a man be born again,
God's kingdom he can not enter in.
Not all things are equally plain,
But essential things need not be explained.
Whenever things are hard to grasp,
We must read scripture in light of the rest.
When controversies o'er doctrines arise
Scripture is to be our guide.
While others turn to their opinions,
We will trust in God's declarations.

You Can't Buy Insurance for Tomorrow
I think one day I'll meet the man
I've prayed for, and we'll united.
I think we'll buy a piece of land
And start our own home site.
I think we'll have many children
Who will run around my house.
I think God will graciously save them,
And they'll one day meet a spouse.
I think I will have many grandchildren,
And they'll ask what I believe.
I'll share the gospel with them, and then
I'll pray they will receive.
I that think I will watch them grow
And even raise their babies.
I think these things, but I can't know.
God may have other plans for me.
I think that I will live to be
As old as one hundred years.
I'll think that I'll be all wrinkly,
And may loose my ability to hear.
But God may have planned that I'd die
After one more year's gone by.
Maybe my life will be much harder.
Maybe He's planned I'll die a Martyr.
What if he wants to show his power
In teaching me how weak I am.
Pain might teach to trust each hour
I may walk alone in this land.
I may not live until tomorrow!
I may die this very night!
There is no time that I can borrow!
No time to rest during this fight.
Christ could return before I die.
I want to be faithful in His sight.
We may not have much more time.
Christ will return as a thief in the night.
How old do you think you will live to be?
How long do you think you'll live?
You'll find you'll live accordingly
Wasting time if there's time to give.
You can't insure time on this earth,
But be sure if you trust Christ
He'll give you second birth.
In Him there's insurance for life.
Trust Christ and don't waste today counting on tomorrow.
Our Condition
*We are guilty before God of breaking his laws. (Romans 3:23)
* The just sentence for our sins, law breaking, is death. (Romans 6:23)
* We will go to "court" and stand before a righteous judge. (Hebrews 9:27)
* He cannot overlook our sins justice must be satisfied. (Isaiah 45:21)
Breaking News
BUT GOD IS MERCIFUL AND NOT JUST, JUST! How can God be both just (which is giving us what we deserve, hell) and merciful (which is giving us what we don't deserve, heaven) at the same time? He satisfied justice for us. The price still had to be paid, but He paid it in full for those who repent and place their faith in Him! By Jesus' death on the cross, He took our guilt upon Himself, He satisfied God's wrath against sinners, and He made a way to righteousness for us. Righteousness means a right standing with God, the Judge. Jesus is the only way to salvation! (John14:6, Acts 4:12) If you put your faith in Christ and ask him to forgive you, you will be saved!( John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8, Acts 16:31)
Faith and Repentance are Inseparable
True faith is trusting in Christ alone for your righteousness, and it is always accompanied by repentance (forsaking and hating your sins and submitting to God). You will still sin sometimes as a Christian, but if you confess your sins, God is faithful and righteous to forgive you your sins and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness. (1John 1:9) However, there is a difference between believing in God's existence and true faith. James 2:19 says " You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe and shutter." Even Satan and the demons believe in God's existence, but they do not have a surrendered heart to Him. When you are saved, God gives you his Holy spirit to dwell in you. The holy spirit gives you power to overcome sin. Demons do not have the Holy Spirit dwelling in them. You are not saved by turning from your sins, but turning from your sins is a result of salvation. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, for God's glory alone.

I Fell In Love
I can't stop thinking about you.
One look and I can't forget
Such simplistic beauty,
And yet so intricate.
What a small thing to occupy
My time, my mind, my heart.
I thought none could love so dearly,
But that was only the start.
What makes you so beautiful?
Why do I love you so?
Perhaps that's a secret
That only you know.
Your smile delights my heart,
And sings music to my soul.
Oh, to hold your hand,
And never to let go!
Your peaceful breathing
Your warm cheeks
I could hold you for hours!
And stare for weeks!
You're growing so fast!
Slow down dear!
Sleep in my arms,
Linger longer here!
And I'll content myself
With watching you dream.
Oh you beautiful, beautiful,
Beautiful thing!
I fell in love with you!
One look and I can't forget
Such simplistic beauty,
And yet so intricate.
What a small thing to occupy
My time, my mind, my heart.
